Intra uterine insemination is one of the first line of management for treating infertility which involves directly inserting specially washed semen sample into the patient’s womb aroundthe time of ovulation.Hormonal supplements may be used in conjunction with the treatment to enhance the chances of conception. Benefit: A relatively small number of sperms reach the site of fertilization i.e. fallopian tubes during intercourse.IUI inserts good amount of motile sperms directly into woman’s uterus thus increasing the rate of fertilization. Basic blood investigations and semen analysis
Baseline sonography on Day 2 of periods followed by starting medication for development and maturation of 2-3 eggs
Monitoring the growth of follicles by vaginal sonography every 2-3 days and individualize drug doses
Hormonal injection is given for rupture of follicles once they attain adequate size
Semen sample provided on the day of ovulation, is washed,prepared and deposited into womb on that day
Medications to support the pregnancy are given and pregnancy test is done after 2 weeks of IUI
