Description
Birth control also known as Contraception is the use of medicines, devices or surgery to prevent pregnancy. There are many different types of contraceptive methods. Dr. Spenta Sumondy can guide you with the right type of birth control methods and therefore you can make the perfect choice.
1. Female Condom- A thin flexible plastic pouch, part of which is inserted into the vagina before intercourse to prevent sperm from entering the uterus. Female condoms also help prevent STDs.
2. Spermicide- A substance that can kill sperm cells. It comes in a foam, jelly, cream, suppository you insert into the vagina.
3. Oral contraceptives (the pill)- Pills that a woman takes every day
4. Intra uterine device (Copper T)- A small T shaped device that is inserted into the uterus. It can last from 3 to 5 years.
There are two types- Hormonal IUDs and Copper IUDs.
5. Tubal ligation- A surgery where the fallopian tubes are tied to prevent eggs from travelling to the uterus from the ovaries.
This procedure is performed by Dr. Spenta Sumondy. For women who wish to have children after the procedure, a reverse tubal ligation is an option.
